For the webmasters..............
Is it an option to make a chatsite connected to this site?
It is quite easy to make.
We use the same on our forum.
It's not that it will be used often, but it lookes like a nice option.
Every now and then there are some people on line,I'd rather speak in person then through the forum

By now I see Tom online, like to chat a little.
Without a chatsite a little difficult

Why don't you use the phone to call Tom?

Different time zones!

The pair of you could always spot each other on line and drop onto the chat bit of Facebook or something similar.


OOPS sorry forgot Tom is allergic to Facebook

Or maybe wither Tom or Andybloke could find something to attach to the website ?

I'm just as allergic to facebook and things like that as Tom

If you ask andybloke i think he might be able to rig something up, i have seen various things attached to forums PHPBB has a lot of add ons available but as with most things its time to add them on and the techy know how for it

Unfortunately we don't have shell access to the phpbb codebase, so can't install a chat module.
There is one installed already, but it's disabled. Will take a look at setting it up.

if i was to find access what do you need to make it work? is it like a load of HTML type code? or is it just a case of persuading the system to let you in to the site so you can link it in? (like a downloadable app)

To install and configure modules, shell access is required. This will never happen on coolbb.

The supplied IRC-Like client should now appear at the bottom of the homepage. It's gonna be nasty.

Unfortunately we cannot use a person-to-person, private, chat with this service.
I have turned on the public chat on the front page.
This is not private. Other people can read conversations.

If it's any use, we'll leave it on.
Users can add their MSNM signins to their profile to help other forum users find them on MSN Instant Messenger for private conversations.

Some of us don't use msn any more.

Tom if you just look at the status updates it cuts out all the "whose whipped up ice cream at Cafe Royale" rubbish. plus you can use the person to person chat option for sensible discussion

I had a chat with Marc a few days ago, and it seems to work... If people actually sign into it!
