| NOTE: This thread started before the start line changed to ValkenburgThe other day somebody asked, “What’s the best route to Maastricht?” Easy … and you can utilise your Landy Rally set of maps in the process. Just one thing to remember – Europe is trying to standardise their road numbers, so whereas the autoroute (motorway) just outside Calais used to be known simply as the A16, it is now often called the A16 / E40. This is true of roads throughout the Landy Rally route, loads now have 'E' numbers. CALAIS TO MAASTRICT ROUTE:- So, armed with your big Michelin spiral-bound map of France, if your ferry is Dover-Calais or Dover-Dunkirk get on E40 / A16 autoroute heading East direction Brussels in Belgium. Reaching the Belgium border, here you can swap to your folding Michelin National Map 716: Belgium & Luxembourg. Driving straight through the border without even stopping (these days the border post is rarely staffed), continue on the E40 East direction Brussels. Arriving at Brussels, continue on the E40 East direction Liège. From now on listen out on the CB’s for other teams merging into your route. Just after Junct. 22 of the E40, take the E314 / A2 Northeast direction Aken (Aachen) / Gent / Hasselt / U.Z. Leuven. Arriving at Junct. 31 just after Hasselt, take the N2 road East direction Maastricht via the Dutch border. This Calais to Maastricht journey of 195 miles / 314 km will take approx. 3 hours. Details of the campsite will be published at a later date. ZEEBRUGGE TO MAASTRICT ROUTE:- If you’re crossing on the Hull-Zeebrugge ferry, it’s even easier. All you will need is your folding Michelin National Map 716: Belgium & Luxembourg. Leaving the ferry port at Zeebrugge, simply take the N31 road South via Brugge until you meet Junct. 8 of the E40 (at this point listen out on the CB’s for other teams merging into your route) then head Southeast to Brussels on exactly the same route as the Dover-Calais teams. Arriving at Brussels, continue on the E40 East direction Liège. Zeebrugge to Maastricht 143 miles / 231 km journey will take approx. 2 hours. Details of the campsite will be published at a later date. As for any Dutch/French/German/Belgian teams, follow your GPS to Maastricht!!!

| Google maps, tels me it is a 2,5 hour drive from IJmuiden. Off course this is in the middle of the night with no traffic. Be sure you don't have to drive this road between 1600 and 1900. You will experience trafficjams up to 2 hours. Cheers | |

| "The official start is at 09:00 hrs Saturday 11th September 2010 from Valkenburg, Holland. "
Or is it Maastricht ?
I realise lots have done this before but what the plan for FRI night anything specific ? Trying to determine if we are better off coming over for the SAT start early am or FRI pm.. any campsite or hotel news for that area or will that all be released later ?
Also in terms of CB radio's.. any set channels we are sticking to ?

| Indeed it is... Really looking forward to it and I have some time off before so should have plenty of preperation I am sure I am jumping the gun as we dont have any detail pack maps etc so I am sure it will come clear but there is a lot of people who have been before which is great but I just want to be sure we miss "assumptions" | |

| We are travelling from Chorleywood in Herts.. .
We will spend FRI pm camping close to the start point no matter what but its a question of if we come over FRI afternoon/evening and then straight to the start point and camp which seems sensible. But if others are having a meet up on FRI we may come earlier.
Bottom line to take the afternoon off work

| I think a few of us have booked a 12noon ferry from dover to dunkirk and then taking the 3 hour drive to the start point. So if you could get the friday off and have a word with Keith Johnson on here. He gets discount ferry crossing at £18 return. We are all meeting up down near the M25 somewhere and going in convoy to Dover | |

| Sounds good.. is that on a forum thread somewhere ? M25 is a few miles from us and we would much rather travel in convoy than solo it. | |

Or is it Maastricht ? Head for Maastricht, then West Maastricht, then Valkenburg. This thread started before the start-line details had been finalised. The start line is at Valkenburg. - Quote :

Often a per-convoy choice .... there was an announcement at the start line last year of the 'general' rally channel. EU 25 or similar, I think. You could always put a "WE MIGHT BE ON EU 8" (or whichever) notice in your back window?
