Decided to start a new thread, less pages to wade through:-

We're off to see Jaap & Henk, the Dutch lads who entered a Land Rover 130 in LR`10 (the Dutch Barge) who suggested at the Landy Rally Club Christmas bash that we may like to visit them in the Spring. Well, Spring has sprung so ...

this is an open invitation to past, present and future Landyralliers - all 4x4's welcome!

A weekend of off-roading and socialising [partying]. drunken

Latest news - It looks as if Jan (the Dutch Scouser) and his new family complete with his Toyota Land Cruiser from UK 4x4 CB Radio Centre will be joining us. cheers No throwing rocks at it Jaap!

Jan was asking about ferries, etc. but of course I haven't got around to that yet. So ...

Outbound - Friday 21st May: Dover-Dunkirk 14.00 - £32
Return - Monday 24th May: Dunkirk-Dover 12.01 - £25

Total £57

No camping fees as we’ll be “pitching in Henk's backyard, barn and house”.

“We will provide you with dinner and booze at very little prices or if possible free”.

On top of the ferry, just need beer, grub and fuel money.

Who’s joining us?

Him Indoors and me have decided that the DirtyWeekenders will be going Dutch for the weekend!!

We will be travelling from Harwich to Hook of Holland, overnight.
Going that route, we will arrive fairly early Saturday morning.

Jaap, we'd like to bring the caravan if that's OK, so we won't need the B&B if we do.

Can't wait now - thinking of what to pack already, has any one seen my Dutch Cap lately? Rolling Eyes

Since people arrive from Fridayevening till Saturdaymorning we've decided gathering will be in Hardinxveld-Giessendam Sorry for you, one of the longest names in the region.
For now we are able to stack you all at and around Henk's yard. How exactly we will see later on. We've even arranged a campfire However, Tom's making a lot of noise, so it is possible we'll be flooded with British people. Worst case scenario: we'll have to change to a campingsite. Not necesarry by now. Will keep you posted.
We're planning a roadbook through windmill country for Saturday and off road on Sunday.( if necessary this can be reversed) So please don't be there too late. To bad for the ferry's: Mud on the decks
Please, don't forget your ORANGE shirts, you might need them

Listed till now:
1. Roadrunners eta Friday. 22.00 2 persons
2. Tom Mc and Bonnie eta friday 16.00 3 persons
3. Dirty Weekenders eta Sat. 9,00 2persons
4. Kieran eta Friday 9.00 ? persons
5. Kevin (Roamingman) eta Friday 1600 2 persons
6. Jan eta Friday 16.00? 3 persons?
7 Johnno eta Friday 22.00 2 persons
8. Dan White eta ? 1? persons
9. Paul Intelmental + wife eta? 2 persons

Excuses excuses I & K, this just won't do. That's a shame, still as you say there will be another time - maybe! Well, what with all this global warming and rising sea levels, won't be long before Holland has to be renamed Atlantis and Jaap has to fit a 3m snorkel to his barge!!!

Think of us as we sink below the waves. Crying or Very sad

You'd better set a date first Wink
But would be fun, although I don't fancy gin that much.
Hopefully I have some remains of Andorra left.
If time and money left, I'd like to join

The date is the easy bit - 25-26 September 2010. The difficult part is ... the show is the weekend directly following our return.

Last time we were there in 2008 (when we officially launched the Landy Rally Club) loads of people turned up. Had a BIG party in TV 4x4 Club's marquee Saturday night. Very popular, must have been our riveting personalities and nothing whatsoever to do with all the cannabis-flavoured absinthe brought back from Andorra that we were handing out. Funny, never been so popular. scratch Laughing

that's very short after the Rally. Suppose it will get us both in difficulties. I'm afraid we can't leave our businessesa few day's later again.
Well, has to be Christmas again
Your planning that?

Yep, we would be in trouble if we hit the malt - sorry, the quadruple distilled malt!

Definitely another Christmas bash, and this time I've promised myself an early present -

www.vehvac.co.uk/car-owner-driver/comfort-heaters.htm

Now that would be money well spent.

Now I know how you survive, the 100 years old 1,000 times distilled malt is central heating for you.

That's your excuse and you're sticking to it! cheers cheers cheers

Here, perhaps you should pour some into your versnellingsbak? That will kill that moaning cat!

PostSubject: Ferry booked   Dutch Jolly Icon_minitimeFri Apr 02, 2010 10:16 am

I've just booked our ferry. A change of route though. Was going Hull to Rotterdam but very costly and with overnight salings not very convenient. So decided to go for the cheapest - £50 return Ramsgate to Ostend. Only drawback we won't get to Rotterdam till about 21:30 on Friday but we do get 4 hours on the ferry so it is a proper boat ride cheers

Can't change my mind now, guess I'd better book up as well. I'll look into the Ramsgate-Ostend option, never thought of that. Wanted to go Dover-Calais to say hello to Herve, Jean-Luc an' all, but that could be left until the recee in June I suppose. We'll see.
