| No use asking Dan our resident sea dog, the Royal Navy part exchanged their galleons for iron clads a fair while ago. | |

| you would be surprised how much textiles the're still in use in the navy. For instance: sunshades, guncovers, winchcovers. I'm sure Dan knows more | |

| Had to look it up. Sleeping place hanging between 2 points. Didn't realise british navy is old fashioned too. Dutch navy uses normal beds nowadays | |

| Yep, we still have sailmakers! Anything that's slightly susceptible to saltwater (bearing in mind my ship is steel with mostly aluminium fittings - mmm corrosion!) has a cover on it. We've even got an industrial sewing machine onboard but unfortunately its bust and no-one knows how to fix it! | |

| Most likely the timing of the sewing machine has gone wrong. As needly is going up from its lowest point, there comes a point grabbing (we call it grabber)the thread. It has to pass the needle 2 mm above the hole in the needle. Distance between this point and the needle 0,05mm. A good mechanic must find which scres to loosen. Sorry off topic again Ah Tom is a liitle oldfashioned | |
