You heard it right, I am considering (this is only an idea at this stage) running a "Landy Rally Euro 4x4 Charity Drive - Celebrity Edition 2012".
I have been mulling over what would be a fitting finale to five years of Landy Rally events – 2007 to 2011 – and I feel this special edition would be perfect. The idea is …
Scheduled for 12th – 20th September 2012, the roadbook routes both on and off-road would remain virtually the same, as would the treasure hunt-type tasks and camping ethos.
The big difference would be the participants themselves. Teams would comprise of company owners, board members or their staff + a minimum of one celebrity per team vehicle. Supported by commercial sponsorship, every team vehicle would also be fully liveried / sign-written featuring the company name and chosen charity’s name and/or logo.
Open to all marques of 4x4 vehicle, entries would be invited from all types of commercial enterprise from the financial/manufacturing/service industries, the media, armed forces, civilian ‘blue light’ services, local authorities, government bodies, the civil service – plus voluntary organisations, clubs and groups of all types whether motoring based (Land Rover/4x4/off-road/etc.) or otherwise … plus of course charities themselves.
Basically any company, private body or even private individuals could enter providing they fulfil the following criteria:-
1. Each team would raise a minimum amount of funds [say £3,000] for a charity nominated by the crew themselves.
2. A minimum of one celebrity per team vehicle.
3. Maximum of three team vehicles per organisation.
