Next 4x4 Market - Frickley, Doncaster Sun 6th July 2008

So, who'll be representing Landy Rally / Bofa 4x4 Rally at the forthcoming 4x4 Market at Frickley Off Road Centre, South Elmsall nr. Doncaster, West Yorks WF9 2ND ?

Local clubs already booked in so obviously would like to see a decent LR / Bofa display as well.

It's got a fair ol' off-road course so you may want to consider bringing the 'second' vehicle if you are really going to 'get down and dirty'. Put it this way, don't do what both team's Dorset 4x4 and Monstar did last year and go wrecking your actual event vehicles - expensive mistake, eh Kieran?

not sure what is meant by that i didnt break it off-roading before last years event i was a good boy and didnt go before the event, although wasnt quite so good afterwards at abingdon

although right now i could do with a few less expensive mistakes, a two wheel drive land rover is no fun

Is it possible to turn up on the Saturday and camp over - FOC???

I have some work to do on Paul's Disco and thought I could maybe (subject to approval from the two bosses!!) do it in a field on Saturday, ready for playing and getting muddy on Sunday!

That raises the question - is the playing at getting muddy course somehewre near your event or is it all the same event?

AFAIK, they are at the same site, and when I checked previously, yes, there is free camping on the sat night.

Cool. Better get the fridge stocked back up then! After last weekend its down to 2 bottles of beer an 3 cans of sprite! No food in there.

That reminds me, must clean out the fridge that had milk spilt in it on Day One of the recee! Now it's off, the fridge as well as the milk, it's getting well stinky!

I placed the following elsewhere within the forum, but to recap -

The next meet up of Landy Rally teams is this coming Sunday 6th July at Frickley Off Road Centre, South Elmsall nr. Doncaster, West Yorks WF9 2ND for the latest 4x4 Market event.

With more teams now booking from the north of England, we should have a half decent Landy Rally presence at the event. I know for instance that Kieran and Andybloke will be paying a visit on Saturday afternoon to help out with the actual running of the event (distributing signs, staking out the trade area, etc.) before having a bit of a party Saturday night as we camp over ready for the Sunday. If any Landy Rally / Bofa teams want to join us on Saturday daytime or simply drop in for the BBQ and test the various alcoholic substances we acquired in Andorra, they would be made most welcome. Failing that, come join us Sunday the 6th for the Landy Rally / Bofa 4x4 Rally display.

And yes Jon, you (and Paul perhaps) are most welcome to join us. The off-roading is directly alongside the trade area, so in other words everything is contained on the same site. See you Saturday.

a shame about the pouring monsoon, but it was a fun day

i really enjoyed it and the off-road track had abit of everything and plenty of stuck 4x4's

Thanks for the help Kieran and Simon. As you say, shame about the monsoon. That's the third event in a row where we've had rotten weather. Great for off-roading, lousy for the traders and trading!

Good turn out by the Landy Rally brigade though - Besides Keiran's Team Monstar (LR 2007 + 2008) there were both Venture Overland teams from LR`07 - that's Jon in his shiny black 110 crew cab and Paul's family in his long-suffering Disco - Team BR Land Rovers (LR 2007 + 2008), and new for `08 Team Slow & Dirty ... plus of course Marc & Manda who this year will be joining Kieran instead of being squashed into the back with Keith & Silvia up front. Again have I missed anyone out as I always seem to forget somebody?

no worries tom, as you predicted the weather certainly didnt hold back the off-roaders, the off-road course was quite busy and really fun

Now now Tom, dont get complacent... I think you need to go back to Peterborough 2006 to find a completely dry show!!! Everyone since then has had some rain at some point in the weekend!
