| about a squillion euro's should do it!!!
I never needed much cash, barclaycard took the hammering for the fuel though... Take plenty of euro coins though cos you need to stop at every service station for a quick espresso shot to keep you alive during the 23hr days!!

| Not sure about the new countires this year - but I think everywhere last year seemed to take Euros - even a restaurant in Switzerland - where the currency is Swiss Francs! Best to check first though before you order! Lu :bom:

If you have a Visa Debit card, you can of course use one of the many cash machines found in the towns along the way. Helpfully, there's one just over the road from the pub on the last night Remember also to keep hold of some change for the loos as many motorway services charge.

| Hi William - back after getting a right soaking last weekend in Yorkshire during another 4x4 Market. They seem to be cursed with wetness!!! Cash ... good question, unfortunately there's no definitive answer. Put it this way, it depends if pay for your fuel on a credit card or not as that's the biggest outlay. The camping fees, BBQ tickets at Val d’Isere and prize-giving dinner are covered as you know (these are mentioned within the Entry Fee section of the Landy Rally 2008 Information Page on the main Landy Rally forum), so apart from the actual fuel, food and liquid refreshment (red bull 'n' booze), there is very little else left. Mind you, forgot about the souvenirs for sponsors, family and friends. If patiently waiting back in Blightly, a pressie for 'er indoors may cost a bit, but all the rest are silly little nic nac's that cost a few Euros. It's the thought that counts after all. And in case anyone is wondering, if you do have a flexible friend - the credit card type Bill not the blow-up version - as Andybloke says there are bank 'holes in the wall' throughout the entire route. Basically, cost-wise it really isn't that bad ... apart from the fuel bill. | |
