| Hi Steve, Welcome, from team Land Rovers and wine, this was one of our sticking points as well. I think I was highly creative , and put dowm my MarkB (name and first letter of surname). I've never been creative, glad they invented these :face: . How did you get " theshortwayround"? Best of luck, Mark | |

| Hi Steve - Well, I called it a 'nickname' as a lot of people have one, but equally you could call it a 'code word'. The idea of it relates directly to one of the tasks on the actual event. The intention was that i would have all the 'nicknames' in my personal file, but teams would not know each others - only they do now, don't they Carpe Diem? You've just told them yours ... opps! No problem MarkB, this can easily all get sorted out at Registration in Calais before the off. Teams can simply make up a new nickname or code word (a much better description) there and then. So long as it's recorded in the file by the Officials, that's all that matters. We will simply emphasise at the time that a team's code word be kept secret as at some point it will form part of a task. In fact we'll call it a 'secret code word', that's even better! Don't worry Steve, leave the nickname part blank. Phew!!! | |

| Look, I won’t tell you again. It’s been substituted, superseded and replaced by a secret code word – not a secret nickname.
The nickname part of the form can be left blank, empty, bare, unfilled, vacant, void, in fact totally letterless, textless and wordless (well, two out of three ain’t bad) because the space is now superfluous and no longer required or wanted being as though it is a redundant, unneeded, uncalled-for and an unnecessary obsolete part of the form as it’s outmoded, unneeded, pointless, useless, futile, inadequate, worthless and totally, absolutely, completely, utterly, entirely, categorically surplus to requirements.

| Excellent, one less thing to think about now, and one more thing to think about later - ho hum!! Greetings Mark, good to chat. Really loking forward to the event, came about the name after lot's of thought, based around work stuff, or landy stuff etc, decided most of them were pants ie team ambulandy etc so then thought about ewan mcgregor and charley boorman's adventures, and thought, hey, why not!! i even cheekily e-mailed them to see if they'd like to sponser me!! they are as it happens, doing another trip, the long way down, biking from john o'groats to cape town, also starting in september, i did suggest if they are in the same bit of europe as us at the same time, i'd buy them a drink!! Anyway, enough rambling for now, need to sort some stuff before i fall asleep or fall too drunk! Steve | |

| Ah, the English language: great isn't it? Hotch-potch, malarkey, higgledy-piggledy, thingamajig, highfalutin ... there's some more for you.
All genuine words, all great fun. | |

| Close. Just head towards signs for Centre Ville (Calais that is just in case someone ends up in the Centre Ville of Paris or somewhere daft) then follow the pretty map you should by now have all received. Piece of cake. | |
