03/05/09 Thames Valley 4x4 Club @ Avon Dassett

Hi there, Thames Valley 4x4 Club are holding one of their regular events at Avon Dassett Quarry near Banbury on the above date.

Now this is a bit of a special. Avon Dassett is only about 15mins away from Gaydon Heritage center. All sorts of special things will be going on there . www.hlrw.co.uk So you can a fun packed day on Saturday and come off roading with us on Sunday.

There will be free camping on the Saturday night at the quarry, we will have our gas barbie so you can burn meat along with us and we will have our fire pit there as well.

If you want to use our preasure washer please bring some water with you as ther is no running water on site.

It bank holiday Monday afterwards so you will have time to recover. How much fun can you take :?: :?: :?: :?:

sounds good, by the looks of the google maps not too far away as on the satruday we are in northampton for a family do thing, which we be tempted to extend the journey to conquer Avon Dasset Quarry. how much does it cost for the night over/day offroading?? also if we were to come it wouldnt be until late at night...sort of 11pm time not sure if might cause a problem?

Sorry i wasnt able to make it this weekend LT the crankshaft seal needed to be changed as oil was pouring out, so ive spent all day pulling bits off it today and gear box is coming off tomorrow so hope fully will be fixed soon

Managed to pop over to Gaydon during the day. Met the Rally Raiders with their Tomb Raider 90. Nice folk, they'll fit in a treat!

Also called in to see the TV4x4 crowd early Saturday evening. Sadly couldn't have a drink as driving back, but saw Lucky Trucker and Truffles together with "Team TV4x4 1" (a daisy-covered Disco) and 4x4 Bun and John in "Team TV4x4 2" with their newly acquired Range Rover Classic - John being one half of The Road Hogs team from Landy Rally 2007. There may even be a third team, inventively titled "Team TV4x4 3" ... watch this space!

Hi there, yes it was good to meet Team Rally Raiders, pity they couldn't come and get their tyres muddy with us. Tom even had a quiet visit to the quarry and found some mud even though it looked more like the Sahara in places.

Don't forget, we are at Hogmoor Inclosure next month, near Bordon Hampshire, week-end after Eastnor Show. We will be attending the show so hope to meet a few more of there.

Not me LT as I'll be heading for them there hills - the Alps and Pyrenees to be precise. Why? Because I'll be on the reccee for Landy Rally 2009.

Paul - by all means post this Hogmoor event as a new topic within Shows & Events as it will be seen better.
