| To all the teams:-
I’ve thought long and hard how to overcome the nagging obstacle of camping and have come up with the following package. To ensure we all stay at the same campsite every night and are not dispersed all over town, I have taken the decision to book places with all seven campsites for all those teams requiring camping.
Going by the prices listed below (some are approximate but this is only because the prices of overnight electricity varies depending on the amps required), the total from Friday 15th – Friday 21st inclusive is 120.86 euros.
If teams want to book this ‘8-night camping package’ (inclusive of the night before the start) simply send me a cheque for £86.00 (based on an exchange rate of £1 = 1.40 euros) and you’ll have guaranteed camping every night. If nothing else, it will be another expense paid in advance, leaving cash in September available for fuel, food/drink, etc.
Alternatively you can book your own camping, hotels, or a combination of both … it’s completely up to you, but be aware that I take no responsibility if you end up the other side of town as the designated camping is full. You have been warned!
Last but not least, with the realisation that the Rugby World Cup is due to take place in France from September onwards, all teams are strongly advised to book their ferries (or arrange sponsorship deals with ferry companies) WELL IN ADVANCE.

This campsite has bungalows. Whether they rent them out for one night or for a minimum period I have no idea, but if you require a ‘proper bed’ then maybe this is the answer as they are on site directly alongside the camping area. Maybe contacting the site via email or telephone is the way to go – the proprietor speaks very good English by the way.
If however you still prefer a hotel, look up hotels on the internet near here – type in budget hotels Poitiers or simply hotels Poitiers and it will give you loads. If possible go for a hotel located near ‘Futuroscope’.
Two persons incl. electricity = 17.10 euros per night

...but what about the folks who don't think camping involves a fiberglass box with wheels, and don't want electricity because they have a torch? Can we do pre-pay bookings, and those that want that dirty Euro electrickery voodoo pay for it at the site if they need it? .a :@:

| You'll find in most cases there is no difference in price between a LR + tent and a motorhome (that's what they seem to class a LR and roof tent) and the electrickery thingy is only peanuts anyway so they seem to include it as the norm. The majority of teams seem to want elec. anyway. What I'm trying to achieve is a block booking as not all of the campsites speak English, so need to keep it as simple as possible. SIMPLE WE CAN DO!
2 persons, 1 vehicle, 1 tent, electricity ... the 'average'.
Just to make it even more complicated, some crews will have an extra passenger. Again, because of communication problems, I will stick to the 'average' and any additional persons can pay extra upon arrival. To be honest, nobody's going to be checking to see if there's any extra persons, so personally I'd leave it until asked - the chances being miniscule you will be, and if you are, just plead ignorance by saying you thought Tom covered the extra passenger! I've got wide shoulders after all.
Besides Andy, surely you'll want to recharge a laptop/phone/powerpack or whatever at some point? If on the other hand you don't use it at all, I'll willingly knock x pounds/pence off the 8-day camping package. Let me know. | |

| What a top class idea, of coure we've come to expect nothing else from you Tom!! Should make things a little easier, not having to worry about making it to the campsite in time to get a place, might even result a - in that nasty word we're avoiding (R*ce) - to get to the campsite!! We'll send you a cheque, although the accountant is asking for a receipt for stuff now so would that be possible? sorry. Just to confirm we'll need the friday before, and we've not yet decided about the Saturday and Sunday after the event, but we'll sort those ourselves. Also, do all the European Countries we're going to use the same Euro plug for the power posts on the campsites? | |
