Anyone have any thoughts about carrying a motorcycle on the back of a Landy?

Don't know which landy at the moment... This might impact the choice!

I'm thinking about putting a 155kg (max wet) bike, 78 inch total length, on the back of a landy. It's a few inches wider than a defender, and a few kilo's heavier than the recommended towing nose weight...

Anyone here tried it?
Is it likely to end in tears?

My brother has a bike rack that slots on to the back of his Disco (in to a plate behind the tow ball) that he transports his 250 TM enduro bike to events on, can ask what/where he got it from if it helps?

Nothing's impossible.

There is however a big difference in requirements between getting the bike a few miles down the road to taking it (the bike) into Europe and beyond.

Assuming your talking good distances then Id suggest that you will need to make something that connects / fastens to the rear cross-member and you'll probably need to put some proper Overlanding springs and dampers on the back and i dont mean the crappy HD springs that you can get for 20p each...

Of course, once you've stiffened the back to accommodate the weight you'll need to match the front spring and dampers to the rear otherwise it'll handle worse than a co-op shopping trolley thats been in a canal for 6 months (dont ask!!).
