hello, i and a firend, have been umming and eeerrrring over doing up a seriers 2a/3 ambulance to do for camping and the rally and so on, infact we were almost to the stage that we nearly brought one, then we saw somthing on ebay that we thought we would bid on as it was sooooo cheap and we ended up getting it, its a 3.9 range rover vogue, sold to us as a non runner that has been stood in a field for ( no idea how long ) but the last tax disk on it is an 06 one heres the snag with ebay, as the guy was telling us about it we were thinking yeah right as if... got that impression even more as we looked more at it, but although the things he said were wrong, it does have incredibly straight body panels and a rust free perfect chassies apart from the sills ( as expected ) and the bonnets got rust on it, so if anyones got a white rangie bonnet im interested, we were tossing up whether or not to rip it apart and sell its parts but weve decided to give restoring it a go, the next problem was it was in hemel hempstead so we needed a trailer and a tow vehicle then the guy wanted it collecting a couple of days after the end of the auction, so we had no tow vehicle and no driver, my dad offered to drive and we modified pinky to tow and now its at home ... meet perky

WAHOOOOOOOOOOO shess alive been poking with spanners all day even sourced a newer bosh starter motor nearly gave up and went to the pub then a mate of james came round to show james his new air rife witch is fun, but he suggested look at the fuel pump in the tank, so we did and it wasnt working, so after abit of hot wiring and bomb making by running the pump from a 12v battery and spluttering the return fuel into a fuel can the beast spluttered into life and after 2 years of being stood in a field started on 6 cylinders but picked up to 8 after a rev, then we set up the pump bomb so it would hold its self while driving round a field , its fair to say she needs more work but at least she runs and the gears work as does high and low box, bargain at £150

He touched the electrics.... Half an hour on the phone, and all I've managed to figure out is that they took the immobiliser away, there's no posative on the coil, and they've connected the coil negative to ground .... all three things sure-fire ways to stop the spark! - Jon wrote:

You probably won't be waiting much longer!

you wont need to keep waiting either no fires, we took a closer look at the main frame that everything bolts to and its rotted away, so weve decided to break it, well break the top half of it keeping the rolling chassy with a sound engine that has no nasty knocks, no leaks and most importantly no spark to make the battery go flat:lol:, it has a brand new auto box so thats somthing to keep, the chassy is mint and the axles are really good so we are now searching for a crappy rangie with dented panels and a poo engine, to nick the frame from and then sell the rest of it and then finally find a rangie with decent interior, over all we will end up with a great rangie on carbs with no rust, we intend to re do some of the features on the range like the boot floor and wheel arches to prevent future rust it'll take some time ( hopefully two years ) so we can afford insurance, and it should all pay for its self in money so all it'll cost us is time, we may even make a little thats the plan any hows, as for electrics, well i had better get learning cheers kieran
