| OK, I know its VERY early days yet but Tom has already mooted about Landy Rally 2008. I for one think its a cool idea and have every intention (holiday days permitting) of over-indulging myself in next years event. Question I have is where will it be? Any clues Tom? I appreciate I probably have no say in the matter whatsoever, but Id quite like to go and 'do' Eastern Europe... and I dont mean in the porn sense Another thought would be Sweden / Norway / Finland - but thats more than a week, unless it was limited to one country, Norway perhaps? For the record, whilst Morocco is very nice, I think the Landy Rally club should embark on the not so popular destinations and maintain its cool uniquness... Any thoughts or takers for next years event? | |

Would be nice to do something different as you say, although as for a lot of us this is our first, prob not too fussed, but is nice to be unique!

Id like to say done, sold to the highest bidder blah blah blah. Norway it is! But I suspect it needs to be open to discussion and is Mr Tom's descision, certainly aint mine!!! Norway, Fjords, Glaciers and Arctic Circle... WOW. Certainly would be cool - and fairly easily doable and certainly maintains coolness!! Access is easy and pretty quick from North Shields (aka Newcastle), straight over to Bergen. Come on Tom, we need input from the wise one!!

| Brilliant idea!
Been around the area when I was in the Merchant Navy, beautiful.
How about going to the worlds northern-most city, Hammerfest.
All the best, mark | |

BJ and I were planning a trip like this in the next year or two anyway - actually last year, but things got in the way. Really wanted to strap the CCM motorbike on the back and do the offroad bits on a bike. There were a lot of clubs that were interested in joining in and showing us the best offroad bits, too.

| Initial thoughts are …
All nice ideas, and it’s true - “the world is our lobster Rodney”, but there have been many folk this year who have only just heard about Landy Rally 2007 and would have loved to joined us but work, family or financial commitments (or a combination of all three) prevented them doing so. However, they are already looking at 2008.
In addition to this, what is the one point that keeps reoccuring time and time again? The fact that like yourselves, they liked the novel unique concept of the ‘8 countries in 7 days’ – surely the very essence of the event! ‘One country in one week’, sorry, to me it hasn’t got quite the same impact!
That’s not to say that I as ‘an organiser’ can’t arrange some sort of separate 10-day Landy Rally Club tour of Russia, or Poland, or as you suggest Norway, but at a totally different part of the year – March or April maybe? Plenty to discuss and mull over I would say.

| arghhh... The old essence - 8 countries in 7 days. A very good point Queen Tom. One that had escaped my simplest of minds!
How about a different slogan each year? 2 BIG countries, 2 BIG weeks!?!?
Departing from the UK, there cant be many other 8 countries in 7 day options left is there? Heading east, the countries tend to get bigger and so take longer to cross.

| Hi Tweedie and I were discussing next year and think it's a great idea . The dates on the new flyer say 13 - 19 September and my brother is getting married on the 20th! But I think it would be cool to go directly from Dover to Manchester, get changed into wedding clothes on the way!, turn up in the Rally vehicle (possibly our 90, if it's finished) and camp on the grass of the posh hotel where the reception is!!! | We did Sweden, Finland and Norway a couple of years ago - our grand tour of the Baltic. We did it in the Chevy and took three weeks. I think it could be done quicker but it was nearer 3000 miles but it would be fun in the Land Rover. The ferry costs would be a lot higher. Perhaps France, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Germany etc might be doable ..... | |
