I'm here and getting ready to do the final packing for the 2008 Mac<illan 4x4 Challenge.

Im in Sheffield pretending to be doing something constructive aka sitting on my bum doing nothing :cyclops: and posting random things on here :Shark:

Not surprised you've been busy, some fight you have on your hands up there. Best of British mate, it's certainly a just cause and well worth contesting - seems to me you actually have a chance of pulling that one off. Left a message on your board, I'll follow progress with interest.

Cheers Tom, as you say it really has been some fight and we've been flat out with it since 8th January running demonstration after demonstration. Last Fridays was fantastic when we got all the kids from the school to go out on strike, and had over 80 decorated vehicles driving at walking pace through the centre of town blowing horns etc and causing gridlock in the town centre. I can now appreciate what you must be going through trying to organise Landy Rally etc, coz it was bad enough trying to organise an event that only lasted one afternoon!!

Landy Rally was easy by comparison, didn't have to deal with any kids! That said, our mob are ten time worse than kids, so yes it's a labour of love!!!

Caught the forum at a quiet time, so shouldn't think you'll get much response, but you never know. As you say, it all helps.

We're here sheltering from the storms. Lenny preparations are continuing. New tyres now in the back - soon to be fitted to the wheels. (sorry Tom I went for the Insa Turbo Saharas, I think they might be copies of the ones you recommended and quite cheap). Next landmark is the MOT at the end of the month, then I suppose it will be lights, radio etc. Hoping to try to arrange some fundraising events and get some sponsors soon. I will try to keep you posted on progress. In the meantime anyone any ideas why the indicator light on the dashboard doesn't work. I've tried all the obvious causes - new bulb, changed the flasher unit etc. Wiring seems ok (I haven't let Kieran touch it), and all the external indicators and hazards work

Tweedie's does that - might just be a Disco thing! The light on the dashboard flashes onces then stops, but the indicators still work! He managed to do something to help for the MOT - I'll ask him what!

The diff on the Disco literally blew up with a big bang when he was on his way to work yesterday! He was towed home and went out in the dark, wind and rain to have a look at it and brought it in - in little pieces!! We've ordered a reconditioned one, but in the meantime it's now a 2 wheel drive Disco!!

Yes I had a problem with the repeater on the dash. I was around at a mates house and asked if he had a spare flasher unit. Before you could say knife he had the unit out and he is pulling it to pieces. He found the dry solder joint and soldered it together. Techie or what

You say the Sahara tyres are cheap. how cheap is cheap and what size?

Thanks for the tip I will check the connections both on the flasher unit and the hazard switch. The tyres I got from Paddock and they were £55 each for 31x10.5x15. I've not been far on them since I only had them fitted Friday, but they are quiet on the road (unlike Kierans Special Tracks). They look like they should be good off-road but I've not tried them yet.

Am trying to do up my house so that it is ready for sale or rent as i am in the process of trying to buy a house with Dr. Evil which is not easy as we live in completely different parts of the country.

Sounds as if you need someone who knows a thing or two about computers. Of course I'd offer my substantial expertise on the subject ...

BTW, shame when getting hitched the woman always takes the man's name 'cause if ever you ventured up the aisle, it would have been great to see the church register sporting the names of Mr & Mrs Evil!

Been getting ready for the camping season, team Scout About will be mostly using tepee's (or is that tepies) this year. Have also been organising some sponsorship to help raise additional funds, thank you Harwoods Land Rover.
