| Some great news! I have arranged a rare treat (well, for some anyway) a Landy Rally Club “Land Rover Factory Tour” at Lode Lane, Solihull for Monday 20th July 2009 - the day after Billing/Newark shows!
Although there’s quite a few places up for grabs, it will be on a strictly ‘first come’ basis.
Cost is £30 per person. Personally, I would have liked to go for the full monty, but the factory tour, lunch at the Land Rover Experience Centre and three hours driving at the famous Lode Lane Jungle Track would cost £150 per person – ouch!
So, be it £30 or £150, it is up to each individual. The basic factory tour starts at 9am, so those who do want the full £150 special can carry on while us poorpers return home. Ahhhhhh!!!!
Fancy coming along? By camping over Sunday night at Billing, those from the South can pile into one or two vehicles leaving some vehicles behind and collect them on the way back, while those who live North of Solihull can simply drive to the factory and continue on their merry way afterwards.
An important point – Those wanting to go whether it be £30 or £150, they must let me know their names and send their cheques ASAP. I then have to forward the names to Land Rover.
Who is up for it? | |

| Just sent Tom an e-mail about this but for anybody who is unsure can I just say that I spent two days at the Experience Centre in Solihull at the end of Feb and had the factory tour etc I have to say it is absolutely amazing. From the large (gigantic) 50tonne metal press that takes sheet metal and presses it into wings or doors etc, right through to seeing the bodies attached to the chassis and following the vehicles through to the end of the production line is incredible. The only building you don't get inside is the paintshop due to it being a sterile environment but the rest is amazing. Lunch at the Experience Centre was incredible and we did spend time playing with a new Defender (which you can't stall!!), a new Range Rover and a Disco 3 in the Jungle Track and other areas of the off road course. The tour itself is fantastic but if you can afford the rest of the day it will be amazing. If I am going to Billing I will join you for another trip round the factory coz it is worth seeing again (and yes even although I spent 2 days there FOC I would pay for another tour it was that good!) What a fantastic opportunity Tom has organised and having done it I can highly recommend it to anyone. I mentioned to Tom that the Experience shop is full of Orange merchandise that was ordered in for the G4 challenge prior to it being cancelled and the staff are fed up looking at orange - and as the tour will start from the Experience Centre can you just imagine what they would say if 30 people turned up in orange Landy Rally t-shirts / sweatshirts!!!! | |

Cost is £30 per person. Hi Tom, could you let me know what the cost would be for Cameron as he'll only be 10 by the time the day comes. I'd presume there would be a deal for kids but if not I'll try and pursue a freebie for him at this end. Looks like we'll both be joining you but we'll confirm shortly. D | |
