| It’s what you have all been waiting for – locations of the camp sites and hotel information …
Pre-event (Fri 14th Sept) Calais
The campsite is only 3 minutes walk from the registration/scrutineering area (now a different location from the Café De Paris due to traffic restrictions), and about 10 minutes walk from the prize-giving dinner at the Café De Paris. Camping - Municipal, Av. Raymond Poincaré. Tel: 0033 321 97 89 79 http://www.calais.ws/CalaisCamping.htm
HOTELS:
Hotel Brazza *, 149 Bd. Gambetta. Tel: 0033 321 34 33 11.
Hôtel Bristol *, 13 rue du Duc de Guise. Tel: 0033 321 34 53 24. Fax: 0033 321 34 53 24.
Hôtel le Mouton Blanc *,40, rue de Vauxhall. Tel: 0033 321 34 71 52. Fax: 0033 321 -.
I personally stayed at Hotel Mouton Blanc (only because it was a 2 star so cheaper) – basic accommodation but bed/shower/toilet fine. Evening food from 7pm, tasty, cheap and filling! A good 15 minute walk from the Café de Paris, 25 minutes to the camping area. If you can afford it, my advice is book a hotel nearer to Café de Paris.
Hotel du Cheval Noir,27, Place Crèvecoeur, Calais. Tel: 0033 321 36 47 50.
Hotel Folkestone,28, rue Royale, Calais. Tel: 0033 321 34 63 26.
Cafe Hotel aux Francois, 38, Bd. des Alliés, Calais. Tel: 0033 321 34 67 33.
Hotel la Grillardiere, 71, Bd. Victor Hugo. Calais. Tel: 0033 321 96 49 32. Fax: 0033 321 97 70 23.
Hotel du Littoral,71, rue Aristide Briand, Calais. Tel: 0033 321 34 47 28.
Hotel de la Nation,12, rue Lieut. Jacques Faguet, Calais. Tel: 0033 321 96 44.
Hotel L'Ovale, 38 - 40 Av. Wilson. Calais. Tel: 0033 321 97 57 00. Fax: 0033 321 97 57 00.
NORTEL, Rue de Tunis. Calais. Tel: 0033 321 97 30 15.
Au retour du ferry, 6, place de Suède. Calais. Tel: 0033 321 34 64 65.
Hotel le Sauvage,46, Rue Royale. Calais. Tel: 0033 321 34 60 05. Fax: 0033 321 34 78 58.

Yay! If anyone wants to see where the campsites are on Google Earth, and the relative distances between them, take a look at: http://www.rememberchernobylrally.org/kml/LandyRallyCamping.kml Edit: NOTE: It's a KML file, not a typo, you need Google Earth installed. If anyone wants the list of GPS coordinates posting. let me know.

| Nice one Tom, good info to have!
good of the site in Val d’Isére to stay open for us, just looked at the prices too, really good! Couldn't fail to notice that in all the pictures on their website, there is at least one landy visible!
Andybloke, really good stuff there, can i have the GPS coords please? would be really useful to have ready!

I tend to use D.DDD, but the other is more accepted, so here's both. Will probably put together a Garmin file and put it up on the website later. | Hi Andybloke,
You seem to be a whizz at things all GPS, although I've been using satnav for a few years, not in your league though. But I've used MAPQUEST in the pass, in your opinion, how good is the LAT/LONG map section.
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/main.adp?formtype=latlong&cat=&address=&city=&state=&zipcode=
Cheers, for any help. | |

Not all things GPS - I have terrible trouble with satnav units. Plenty accurate for GPS fixes. Just tried popping a few values in, and it's as accurate as anything I've been using. I like the Google stuff, because it overlays satellite images onto maps, which helps when you're trying to find places. For example, at the moment, if you went to http://www.rememberchernobylrally.org/live/where.php and clicked "Hybrid" and zoomed in you can see a carpark (FourPlus4), where http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&formtype=latlong&latlongtype=decimal&latitude=53.810731&longitude=-1.537700 isn't as helpful.

| Prefer a map myself, mind you, probably something to do with stopping every five minutes to ask directions from young ladies with plunging necklines! | |

| You're just a sick old perv Cap'in, just as well you wear that mask all the time or you would constantly be frightening the girlies away! BTW, forgot to take your donated flip-flops with me for the showers, will next time though. Fed up with hopping in a soaking wet 2ft square cubicle while attempting to put a sock on. That's a point! Forget the half-shafts, rad weld and two spare tyres - FLIP-FLOPS! - essential kit folks - another item for your ever-growing list. | |

| Excellent. They look like good sites. Are people booking beforehand or can you book in and pay on the day?

| No need to book in advance as France and most other Euro countries go back to work end of August. Unless a rival motoring event rumbles into town, I would say we are 99% certain of getting a pitch. However, same can't be said of the ferries to Calais. Have a butchers at my post within the Ferries topic of the General Chit Chat section to see what i mean. | |
