Dates for Landy Rally 2010

I was thinking of reverting back to the original start date of the 2nd weekend in September, so for 2010 it would be ...

11 - 19 September 2010

This way for those who can make it, we could once again meet up at Abingdon 4x4 Festival, a charity fundraising bash in Oxfordshire the weekend following our return from Calais. This was a good unwinding session for the teams in 2008, so I would like to see that reinstated. Only trouble is we would miss the LRO Show at Peterborough (also 2nd weekend in September) as we would be on the start line, but as P'borough is overpriced anyway, I don't think this is a bad thing.

Actually I've caught Kieran's cough/cold from the weekend and been feeling ropey all day but just the thought of setting off again is making me feel better already.

If we do enter again then the dates will be the dates whatever you decide, however, the proposed dates above will let me be a "good dad" and get back home just in time for Kerina becoming a teenager on the 21st!

Had a long journey home last year on the 20th just to ensure I was there for her birthday so could see history repeating itself next year!!

That's settled then. If we see the return of the Taffs 'n' jocks, then it's set in stone!

Mind you, you'll have to beat the Johnsons into submission first as they're looking at grabbing a podium finish for 2010 - exactly which position is all according how much they nobble The Double Dutch and the Dirties. Sould be interesting.

Oh! Anothing thing. If Captain Chaos manages to let off the lead, may even see him joining us as an Official.

Grumpy Wayne and the pointy-eared Chaotic one as Officials, now that would be something to savour!

Must admit it was a pretty good feeling last year to finish 4th (Especially as it was unexpected!!)- a podium would be fantastic (and yes we would be trying hard to get one) but at the end of the day whether we win or lose it's the experience we'd be going for, not the prizes.

The fun and the friendships developed last year are what did it for us, and thats every bit as good as any prize!!

And as for the dates - you're kids only become teenagers once so would be good to be back to support Sandra rather than have her "face the nightmare" alone!!

Hi Tom and all landyrally nuts. I am sorry i could not make the 2009 event due to business commitments. Well the good or bad news is that I and at least 1 other team from slroc.com will be on the 2010 rally. by the way for those of you who know how land rover mad i am heres my new toy.

Actually gassing it up is a thought! I would be able to sleep in it no need to pitch a tent. You,ve got me thinking now tom. Whatever happens i and one other team will be on the 2010 rally.

Did you read about my latest acquisition in the YOUR WHEELS section of the forum - a 1973 Range Rover ambulance! Hopefully I will have an LPG conversion on it before too long and then it'll be a case of 'building a camper' - can't wait.

No more tents ... horray!!!!!!

Mind you, now I've suggested you take the 101, it may well get a bit sweaty en route for they aren't renowned as the most user-friendly 4x4's ever to be invented! Love the shape though, and the fact everything apart from tractors and artics get out of your way. Could been a lot worse though for driving comfort, you could bought a IIA.

Mmmmm - did ask AB to replace that with new the dates, twice if I recall! Another reminder methinks.
