| Hiya, I'm andybloke, from the Remember Chernobyl team. I'll be co-driver/engineer/programmer with BJ, who's on the forum somewhere. Yeah, programmer ... there's a bunch of non LR processors under the drivers seat of the Tomb Raider edition Defender 90 (Td5) we'll be driving the rally in.
The charities we're supporting are Chernobyl Childrens Project (UK) and Medicine And Chernobyl.
I met some of the Landy Rally folks at Driffield, and somehow ended up with a hangover and lots of photos of people in Landy Rally sweatshirts.
There's some of the photos at http://photos.ymmv.co.uk/c1294694.html - the rest may be published later, depending how the whole blackmail letter thing pans out.

Medicine And Chernobyl raise funds for the medical stations set up to help combat radiation poisoning, as so many people are living on and eating from land in Belarus contaminated by the Chernobyl nuclear reactor explosion in '86. - theshortwayround wrote:

Comms gear, computer interfaces, telematics, fault-finding, trip computers and some engine management goodies. We'll be transmitting back real-time data from onboard GPS, as well as images from a camera and vehicle statistics (fuel level, speed, air temperature, who's driving, peak G-forces, etc). People will be able to see where we are at any time using Google Earth, or our website. You can see some of the realtime GPS at http://www.rememberchernobylrally.org/live/tracking.php - but some of the features are turned off at the moment ... and we haven't finished the website yet...

| I love the GPS stuff, it's brilliant. I don't think we'll be getting too technical, although we have now got scaffolding bars in the back of the Disco to attach everything to!

| Organ grinders? Monkeys? Bad analogy! This only works if you're talking about a boss and his skivvy. Badger and I don't work like that. The point is we're mates - no, we're very good friends (but not in the biblical sense) so we'll help each other out whenever, that's why the Organ Grinder reference doesn't sound good. Besides, it sounds as if he's paid. Hah!!!! It hasn't happened in 12 years of organising events, so can't see it starting now! Seriously, no sooner had you asked me, I asked him, job done. You can't make a monkey out of Badger! BTW, great website. Can't wait to see the Google Earth thingy in action. Then again, I'll be on Landy Rally myself so don't suppose I will see it - bummer! | |

You could pretend that .... um ... Scalby is on the rally - according to Google Earth, that's where it is now. Apparently outside a pub.

| AndyBloke has just returned LaraLandy with new dash board and electrics. Andy - You are a star. Hard to explain how excited I am about everything - Its getting kind of real. Tom: Just realized, you missed who I was calling a monkey. Kind of explains your mini-rant Cheque is in the post. :@: | |
