gps live tracking

Hi all, Any teams using a live traceable online device ?? Basiclly we have a few people who have nothing better to do than watch "our" progress on the rally via there pc, so was wondering if we could give um a web site to keep up to date on ??

i have a couple of friends like that too

also is anyone likly to have internet access on the tuesday as im likly to have to email the local press or have to ring them to give a live interview ** must remember 10 countries in 7 days and not 7 countries in 10 days **

As long as it works (it did in Gran Canaria last year), my mobile has internet access and e-mail so happy for you to use that if you need it.

Re: Tracker, one of my sponsors, 3ARC (http://www.3arc.com), are supplying me with a tracking system in the vehicle....once it's all set up, they will supply me with a URL me to place on my website and also to email my other sponsors so they can see exactly where we are (to within a few metres) - if people would like me to put the link on the forum I don't mind!

We found GPRS and/or 3G worked reliably most of the time, except Swizerland where data just didn't want to play.

We had over 3500 visits to the "where are we now" page during the event, and various text messages from people watching...
Because we lost the uplink for an entire country, people were asking if we were still at customs

We also had a message when we pulled over for a break one evening along the lines of "I used to live on that street!"

Tom will be having one of our tracking devices in his car.

There will be a link off our home page which will take you straight to a map showing the location and an amount of previous activity / movement.

Looking to get it finalised next week.

for us poor students who else is having trackers fitted as it might be good publicity if we could be cheeky and send the link to the radio and the chad who can follow our progress real time
