Team Dorset 4x4

Hi All,

Team Dorset 4x4 consists of Johanna (swmbo) and I (Justin), we'll be driving a 300Tdi Disco.

We come from Blandford, Dorset and will be supported by our local 4x4 specialist Dorset 4x4 - www.dorset4x4.com, they'll be doing all the vehicle prep for free!

Nice to see there's a few of us from the south. I've lived in N Yorks for a few years and loved it.

My alegance is with South Wales especialy with the last rugby result Cymru am byth etc...

Welcome from the selsey sharks there's definetly some sotherners about im about as south as u can get apart form lands end but i call that west. well anything out side selsey is abroad for most of us. Try selsey on google map and u will see what i mean?

We had a bit of a set back last weekend, went away for the Fri and Sat night, came back home on the Sunday to find (or rather not) the Disco gone.

Police found it burnt out on the Sat night, all for the sake of the alloys.

To cut a long story short we're now using the Series III 88"

Up dates soon, needless to say I'm going to be spending some spanner time between now and next month...

Sorry to hear of your loss. But look on the bright side - the event was set to be a good week's fun...

Now its seriously character building for you...

Dont forget to pack that spare throttle return spring!!

Good luck on getting the 88" up 'n' running. Need any specific bit for the SIII? If so post them on here as we may be able to help.

Every cloud and all that - As Jon of Vebture Overland says, yes it'll be character building, and also now you'll have Mark (Carpe Diem) from "Team Landrovers & Wine" for company. Don't suppose you like vino by any chance?

Hi from TV4x4, condolances. I know if it happened to me it would be like a death in the family. The scum bags. If needed I could have given them up to 3 sets of Landy alloys.
Is yours terminal now? I have a 200tdi minus engine/gearbox, with good interior. Anything I can do to help.?
Every cloud and all that, yes character building it will be. I was concerned that this was going to be the Landy Disco Rally :roll:too many Discos including mine. Very pleased to have another Series on the jaunt. No doubt you will have full support from the other teams.

Just in case, i've found a spare series 3 carb with manifilds attached. nit sure how much use it could be, or what condidtion it's in, i forgot i had it, but if you need/want it, it's yours

Thanks for the support, gutted about the disco, but now excited about the Series.

Luckily I'm at the end of 18 months of work on and off to the Series so there's not a lot left to do, just prep for the amount of use it's going to get I guess.

I'm a bit worried about the comfort factor, need to get a bloody good stereo character building definitely any marriage councilors amongst us?

Dont worry about comfort, or the stereo - you'll have bigger things to worry about Unless you have new, proper seats, take a few rubber rings to sit on - dont think i need to explain further!

en-route to Africa in the S3, once I'd done about 500 miles of non-stop driving, my arse was flat and the remainder to and through Africa was a breeze.

Seriously, it'll be fine.

I hear that seats from the old 1980's Volvo 740 / 760 are favourite - comfy and fit easily.
