Abingdon 4x4 Festival AFTER Landy Rally 27-28 September 2008

As posted in the General Chit Chat section, the "Landy Rally Club" will be launched at Abingdon 4x4 Festival 27th-28th September 2008 … the weekend after we return from LR`08.

This is an out 'n' out charity event so it's worthy of support anyway, but it's also ideal timing for a post-event get-together. The stand will be directly adjacent to Bofa4x4's display, therefore all the Team Bofa4x4 entrants entering Landy Rally 2008 can be lined up directly alongside the rest of their fellow Landy Rally participants.

Also mentioned is the fact I realise that with teams dotted about all over the UK not everyone will be able to make the launch party, but this is just the first of what will be a "Landy Rally Club" presence at every major 4x4 and Land Rover show in the land. The idea is in future as more and more teams take part, regional groups will develop to cover the extremities of the UK from Land's End to John O'Groats, Wales to the East Coast.

Whose up for it? Plus what ideas have you to make the Saturday night party go with a bang!

I will be there along with a dose of other TV 4x4ers marshalling. I think I will just have to get out a certain shirt.

Seems daft hiring one when as soon as I can afford it I'll be buying one - mind you, have to buy a van or a box trailer first to haul the darn thing around.

As Paul the Lucky Trucker eluded to in another thread, it looks as if Thames Valley 4x4 Club will be joining us at Abingdon. So much so, Paul has kindly suggested pitching alongside the Landy Rally Club and Bill's Bofa 4x4 so we can all utilise TV4x4's 30' x 20' marquee.

That's brill 'cause the Saturday night party is now going to bigger and better than ever. Be prepared though for a rather long session, because THE party (complete with a disco + maybe a karaokee session now and again) won't really get going until after the Beer Tent has finished - as we can't not support them. Also, when the catering wagons have shut we can get a decent BBQ's going for whoever from around the site wants to join us. It'll be 'open house' for all.

I'll supply a shed load of grub and folk can just whack it on the grills whenever it suits.

Anyone got a decent size BBQ? A half-an-oil-drum size should suffice, besides, it's good for heating up the place if it turns nippy at night. In fact think I may even hire a space heater or smilar. Can't cost much and a warm tent makes all the difference.

Also obviously need a generator for lighting, the disco and importantly - ice cold beer! Anyone got a spare decent-sized genny?

Power for the music and lights is already arranged, Tom. Probably spare capacity for a fridge, too.

Tom, we don't want the marquee burnt down. Barbie in the marquee not a good idea. I am sure with plenty of leaping about we won't be cold. If needed I could get a space heater but I don't think it would be needed.

As for power, we have a 3.5kva gennie but for the rally we hired in a 6/7kva diesel gennie from Speedy hire, about £60:00 for the week-end and it didn't use much fuel.

Looking forward to seeing you all at Abingdon. You will still be on a high. I can remeber from last year how we all were.

Kieran, Mr DJ was Karl, one of our members (& does Mac challenge in his 90). He's a fair way away, not sure if he's doing Abingdon, but he may be there, who knows?!

dam right paul i agree, although i seem to be working alot on this bulkhead, i spose that'll explain all those times being stuck

You get that bulkhead right though Kieran. It will repay in heaps when it is right.

bit of forward planning but what do we have to do to get tickets? and how much? is it a turn up and find a space or is it like some of the other shows where its cheaper to book in advance??
