| Hi to all, Been posting for a little while, so thought better get around to sending off the forms (done today!) and introducing ourselves! We are The Short Way Round, otherwise known as Steve and Janet (No questions about which one is short and which one is round :!: ) Inspired by the adventures of Ewan and Charley, although we're not going quite as far, and we have twice as many wheels! We will be driving a 300Tdi Discovery with a few extra bits added on. We have set up a website, please feel free to have a look! www.theshortwayround.co.ukLooking forward to chatting with you all over the next few months, and seeing you all for the party in September! | |

| Bo ho ... why can't I post pretty piccies? Nice pedestrian-friendly winch/winch bumper you have there. Strewth, the size of it! That Goodwich looks as if it'll pull a house down. How many pounds is it? Is it hydraulic (it certainly looks capable of docking the QEII) or is it just a massive electric jobbie? That reminds me, the 'killer bull bar' vs 'innocent pedestrian' debate really makes me wanna spit. At the height of the anti-bull bar frenzy I once saw an article stating, "he was hit by 70lbs of steel bull bar, that's what did the damage". Crap!!! Okay then, let's replace the offending bull bar with a plastic equivalent or even no bull bar at all, then we'll repeat the excercise and see who wins. At the end of the day it's not the bull bar doing the damage, it's the 2 tons of vehicle travelling at 30mph or whatever that does the damage. Doubtless they will ban bull bars on trucks next. That's bound to help next time you get mown down by a 40 ton artic! Pen-pushers justifying their cushy little jobs, that's what bans are all about. | |

| Hi Tom, posting pictures is easy, all you have to do is upload them onto a web page, i've been using www.photobucket.com then copy the URL which is given for each photo in to here using the image link button at the top! simple (took me hours to figure it out!!) Winch is a G10, one of David bowyers specials, has a 10,000lb single line pull, and is fully electric! The winch bumper is also one of Davids, but just to help out the pedestrians, it is fully reflective at night time, just still black in the day!! well, if they can't see it during the day, they shouldn't be on the road!! i like to be controversial (sp), i reckon bull bars can save lives, if you're about to be hit by one, just grab hold of it, then you won't be thrown up, driven over, just taken for a ride, granted a few bruises, maybe some broken bones, but at least you won't be flying or road pizza!! answers on the back of a stamp.... | |

| Cheers Mark, it's been on my mind for a while, the old Trac edges were really worn, i've had them for 5 years and they were 2nd hand then! Then when i was doing some Med cover at a Winch Challenge, started to develope a slow puncture, so when i changed back to the road set, i then saw how bad they were!! Had just about budgeted for a new set, but cutting on other stuff, so when CarCarC came up with the sponsership offer, i was so greatful, i was lost for words (not easily done!) :star: :star: So on the way now are a set of 5 BFG MT's, 235/85/R16 so get us through europe!! Is a big weight off my mind, i just need to get the camel cuts done now, although they are on modulars, does anyone know if you have to cut anymore than just the rear section?? Cheers | |

| Hi there, do you have extended axle bump stops? If not then the tyres will be coming up and scraping in the wheel arches on full articulation. No real damage but somewhat disconcerting at first. Didn't have any on mine for a while, got them now and whole lot happier | |

| Well done you! We're finding the sponsorship thing really hard. Lots of companies have particular rules, e.g. about not sponsoring individuals, only sponsoring particular causes, not opening the floodgates to lots of requests etc. How is everyone else finding it? We're getting used to 'no' especially by email . We've had a bit more luck face to face. Lu :bom: | |

| Well, thanks to all the extra advice, hopefully (weather dependant!) will be fitting the 2" lift, including the extended brake hoses, extended bump stops, AND rear dislocation cones.
:!: Any offers for help this week gladly accepted! :!:
Also, anyone got any comments on the electric or viscous fan debate? | |
